The Encyclopedia of Child Abuse

The Encyclopedia of Child Abuse reflects the struggle to define, prevent and treat this problem. Entries reflect the range of disciplines (including law, medicine, psychology, sociology, economics, history, education and others) that contribute to our understanding of child maltreatment as well as the scope of debate within and among disciplines. Where there is disagreement on a particular point, we have tried to identify the different arguments. Obviously, it is not possible to present an exhaustive discussion of each of the hundreds of topics included in this book. For those who wish to explore a topic in depth, we make suggestions for further reading at the end of selected entries. An extensive bibliography is also included at the back of the book.
